Founder and Director Matt Gerber has over 20 years of industry experience and leads each project with a focus on planning, workmanship, and detail.

    At Legacy Building, we specialise in custom, high-end homes where planning, documentation, and execution matter. We work closely with clients from the early design phase, developing the design and documentation in-house to ensure the project is fully coordinated and buildable before construction begins. From there, we manage the full construction process through to handover.

    A bespoke build requires clear decisions, accurate allowances, and disciplined coordination. Our role is to keep the process organised, maintain standards on site, and deliver a finished home that feels considered in every detail and performs for the long term.

  • Our primary objective is to assist our Clients in formulating their visions and accomplishing their goals. Our meticulous, step-by-step process is designed to guide Clients seamlessly from the initial stages of conceiving their new space to the final handover stage. We aim to establish a structured approach that ensures the construction process aligns with the Client's vision and expectations without any obstacles while providing them an enjoyable and memorable experience.

    PRELIMINARY AGREEMENT - STAGE-1

    1. Initial Consultation

    In the initial consultation, the client's needs, preferences, and constraints will be discussed to assess the feasibility and execution of the project. Factors like financial limitations, legal and regulatory requirements, and site-specific conditions will be considered.

    2. Site Analysis:

    A site analysis will be conducted to evaluate the project site's critical aspects, including topography, climate, sun orientation, and neighboring buildings. Accurate digital site plans will be created to determine the ideal orientation, layout, and materials for optimal design and construction, ensuring functionality and aesthetics meet the client's objectives.

    3. Concept Design

    Legacy Building will create a preliminary plan in the conceptual design phase based on gathered information and references, including architectural elements, spatial layouts, and material suggestions. The design will align with the client's vision and requirements while adhering to industry standards. Client feedback will be used for further refinement.

    4. Design Development

    The refining phase involves incorporating client feedback, addressing concerns, and making adjustments to the design. A comprehensive review of various aspects, such as design, space planning, materials, and functionality, is conducted to ensure the concept aligns with the client's vision and budget.

    5. Plans & Engineering

    The drawing and engineering phase involves producing final floor plans, elevations, and specialised engineering drawings. It showcases architectural details, material choices, interior and exterior finishes, and spatial relationships to help clients visualise their new space.

    6. Permits & Approval

    Legacy Building will handle all necessary documentation and certifications to obtain Approvals and Permits, collaborate with local authorities for compliance with laws and regulations, and monitor the process to address any issues. The client will be updated regularly for a smooth experience.

    7. Pre-Construction

    Before commencing the construction process, it is imperative that we meticulously scrutinise all pertinent documentation and information gathered. Our panel of proficient experts guarantees that no critical details are overlooked. This approach ensures a smooth and systematic construction process.

    PRE-COMMENCEMENT - STAGE-2

    8. Specifications

    We consider various factors such as material types, floor coverings, skirting, doors, electrical layout, fixtures and fittings, and other details. These elements will have a significant impact on the overall aesthetic and functionality of your space.

    9. Financials

    This phase involves clarifying financial details, determining the need for bank involvement, defining payment schedules and methods, and structuring progress payments according to project milestones. The goal is to ensure transparency, prevent confusion, and facilitate a seamless payment process.

    10. Detailed Quotation

    After gathering all the necessary information in the preliminary stages, the team can plan specific project details and costs by finalising the budget, approaching suppliers and contractors for detailed quotations, and presenting an exact quote to the client for review and approval. This stage is critical for the project's success.

    11. Building Contract

    Legacy Building provides a building contract that confirms the project's scope, cost, and timeline, ensuring that it aligns with the client's requirements. After signing, the builder will provide the client with a home indemnty Insurance certificate.

    12. Site Setup

    To begin the on-site construction, our team will furnish the job site with adequate equipment, safety protocols, and amenities. In addition, we will ensure that all necessary resources are readily available to facilitate a construction process that is both safe and efficient.

    13. Commencement

    Project commencement is a critical stage that initiates on-site construction, including material delivery and contractor work on the building. Attention to detail is crucial for successful and efficient delivery.

    14. Variations

    Collaborating with a bespoke builder allows for changes during the project, fostering innovation and ensuring flexibility. We explain the variation process and work professionally with clients.

    15. Management Etiquette

    The team maintains high standards of project management and quality control, working with skilled tradespeople who meet strict selection criteria and adhere to proper work-site etiquette. We take pride in delivering exceptional final products.
